When jobs are lost, hours are cut or an emergency arises, a family’s ability to pay their rent, grocery, utility, or medical bills can be drastically affected. FIRC’s Community Support program offers financial assistance once a year during times of crisis to help people back on their feet. FIRC also works to provide the tools and resources to help families and individuals become self-sustainable so they can avoid future crisis.
Programs working toward self-sufficiency:
- CHP+/Medicaid Insurance enrollment for children and families
- Dollar Works II budgeting education
- Summit Self-Sufficiency Project assisting people with job training and additional computer skills for resume building and job search
- Cooking Matters classes, a program of Share Our Strength, teaches cooking nutritional meals on a budget
