Financial Donations

Financial donations have the largest impact on FIRC’s ability to support the community in the greatest areas of need.

$25 allows FIRC to buy diapers for the food bank.

$50 would allow FIRC to help people facing prescription needs. Imagine being sick and not being able to afford your prescription.

$75 helps FIRC offer free parenting classes for the community.

$100 allows FIRC to help three stranded people facing a night in the cold to stay in a hotel.

$200 helps get the heat turned back on for a family that could not afford their utility bills.

$300 would help an unemployed parent get training for a more stable job.

$400 can help a family facing eviction to stay in their home.

$500 allows FIRC to help a mother diagnosed with cancer afford an MRI so she can receive further treatment.

$800 many times medical emergencies keep a person from working and they fall behind on their rent or utilities. This donation would help two families in this situation avoid eviction so they can stay in their home.

$1,000 would help FIRC provide home visits for a year to a family with a child facing developmental delays.

Your donations making a difference:

  •  In 2010, 90% of FIRC’s expenses went towards programs and only 10% went towards operational expenses.
  • FIRC will offer financial assistance one time a year for a family or individual, families receive priority. Clients must meet with a case manager to discuss their situation and show employment and financial need. Most clients just need help getting through the month. Checks are written directly to landlords or Xcel, not to the client.
  • Over 1,200 home visits were facilitated by FIRC Parent Educators last year.
  • Your donations help locals. FIRC can only serve people living or working in Summit County.

FIRC Bag Project

The FIRC Bag project was started by a group of volunteers in 2009 looking to raise money for FIRC’s emergency assistance fund. Their original goal was to raise $300 by using donated materials to FIRC’s thrift store and sewing them into reusable grocery bags. Two years later, they have 45 volunteers, known in the community as the Bag Ladies, working on a variety of upcyled products and they have raised over $10,000 for families in Summit County.

100% of Bag Project sales go to help locals facing eviction, disconnection of utilities or the FIRC Food Bank. The FIRC Bag Shop is located in donated space La Riva Mall above the bowling ally in Dillon, Colorado. If you would like to shop at the store or learn more about volunteering, please contact Anita at 970-262-3888 ext. 306 or email anitao@summitfirc.org
