Affordable and Environmentally Friendly
STT serves both as an affordable place to shop for the economically conscious and a “green” place to shop for the environmentally conscious. Brand names include North Face, Burton, Spyder and many others all offered at significantly reduced prices while at the same time keeping these items out of landfills. The majority of unsold items are further recycled by being donated to Denver nonprofit thrift stores. STT recycled 350,000 pounds last year alone.
STT is also known throughout the community as a safe, welcoming environment for newcomers to Summit County. It is an informal gathering place for people to learn about resources in the community and is staffed by employees that can provide appropriate referrals to community agencies.
Clothing Assistance
Store vouchers are given to FIRC clients in need of assistance so they can purchase appliances, coats and other necessities for themselves and their families.
These vouchers are given through FIRC’s General Assistance program and can be received up to four times a year. For more information please visit our Get Help Section on the website.
Volunteer
Volunteers are the heart of STT.
Various community members volunteer more than 4000 hours per year to Summit Thrift and Treasure. Without this dedication, STT could not function as it does to be the essential asset that it is in funding FIRC.
STT offers opportunities to those who volunteer time to receive store credit for purchase of merchandise or use at the food bank; greatly-needed resources for many in Summit County.
Volunteers at Summit Thrift and Treasure gain friendships, Spanish and English acquisition and valuable job skills that often help them gain employment in the community.
Volunteers are always needed. For more information please contact FIRC at 970-262-2888 or apply to volunteer online.
