Summit County Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce that the developer of Braddock West, near the intersection of Tiger Road and Highway 9 in Breckenridge will work with Habitat to enable the non profit organization to build affordable housing intended for ten local, lower income families.
Five duplexes will be built over the next five years and will contain ten three-bedroom units. The estimated cost for a home is $150,000 to be paid back to Habitat over the next 30 years at a no interest rate. The cost covers the purchased labor and materials necessary for construction of the home.
Habitat is working with the Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) and the Summit County Housing Authority to select families in the area that qualify to be owners of the new homes.
Application guidelines set by Habitat:• Applicant must be in the 80% or less AMI range which averages out to be a family of four has a house hold income of up to $68,000 per year or less
• Commitment to living in Summit County
• Has not declared bankruptcy
• Does not have bad credit.
• Legal resident
• Agrees to go through financial training if chosen

Habitat plans to start construction on the first duplex by late June 2010. Volunteers are needed including professional electricians, plumbers and constructors who are willing to donate their time and talent.
