Are you an expecting parent or new parent of a child age 0-36 months looking for resources or a parenting support group?
FIRC’s parenting services focus on helping parents overcome the challenges of raising a family in Summit County. We offer Home/Virtual Visitation with a Parent Peer, support groups, or a light one-time consultation option. We connect parents with resources, increase knowledge of child development, promote positive parenting skills, facilitate meeting other parents in this community, and develop or strengthen your support network. We are here to ensure your family’s basic needs are met so that you can thrive.
Home/Virtual Visitation Program
FIRC’s Parenting Visitation Program is currently FULL. The program year runs from July 1st, 2023 – June 30th, 2024. Look for our open application to apply in May 2024. Please see below for more information on Parenting Support Groups and other resources.
FIRC’s Parenting program works with families with pregnant women and children ages 0-36 months over the course of a year. We use the Los padres como profesores y Asociarse para tener un bebé sano curriculums and trainings in our one-on-one visits. Our Parenting home/virtual visiting model utilizes a supportive and flexible framework where families are matched one-on-one with a FIRC Parent Peer and receive two, hour-long visits each month, for the duration of our program year (July 1st, 2023-June 30th, 2024). FIRC is working with 44 total children this year and will offer a variety of additional parenting supports (see below).

- Establecer conexiones con recursos valiosos y ayudar a las familias a satisfacer sus necesidades básicas.
- Aumentar el conocimiento de los padres/madres sobre el desarrollo de la primera infancia y el establecimiento de objetivos para la familia.
- Proporcionar educación socio-emocional, conexiones pro-sociales, talleres y eventos.
- Proporcionar una detección temprana de los retrasos en el desarrollo y de los problemas de salud.
- Prevenir el maltrato y el abandono de los niños/as.

Parenting Support Groups
Parenting isn’t easy. Through collaborative learning, parents learn techniques and strategies to give their children the best start in life. FIRC utilizes the Circle of Parenting support group model.
We offer one Spanish speaking support group every month. If you are interested in joining, please email Patty Garcia, Peer Community Supervisor at pattyg@summitfirc.org.
One-Time Consultations
If you are a pregnant or a parent in Summit County that is looking for some coaching, advice, or assistance – we offer brief, one-time consultations. We can help with pregnancy guidance and support, maternal and infant education services and ancillary services for women and infants, application assistance (CCCAP, FARM, childcare waitlists), preschool and school district guidance, assessments (ASQ or PICCOLO), orientation to the landscape of our community (where are key agencies located), referrals to partner agencies (NFP, WIC, ECO, Early Intervention, Youth & Family), after school recommendations, information about Colorado Community Response CCR and other internal programs such as ALMA, and much more.
